To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Centre Pompidou chose the Monnaie de Paris to exhibit a series of beautiful sculptures by Marcel Duchamp, Pipilotti Rist, Robert Smithson, James Lee Byars and Alberto Giacometti. The exhibition « À Pied d'œuvre(s) » focuses on an essential subject in the history of sculpture of the 20th Century : the transition from the purely vertical aspect of the monument to one encompassing horizontality and its immediate relationship with the ground — source.

A group of bloggers and I were kindly invited to a private visit of this exhibition last week and we had the loveliest tour guide explaining and describing the different pieces showcased at the museum. I found the exhibition quite interesting and very different from the other exhibitions that I have attended. I have to say, my favorite piece was probably the room in which the word 'vivre' (meaning 'to live') was written all over the floor multiple times. It was very intriguing and quite an original idea. The exhibition is open until the 9th of July, in case you're in the area! More info here : monnaiedeparis.fr
