Thoughts on 2016
16th of January 2017... Wow. Where to begin? Maybe why I've been MIA? What has my 2016 been like?
Well, I guess it's safe to say this semester has probably been the toughest one for me, not because it was particularly hard, just because there was a lot of work to be done. Projects to finish, exams to study for... Stress. Finding a 6 month internship, finishing up PhD applications... So. much. stress. I didn't think I would be able to juggle between college related work and this blog, so I just forgot about this space for a little while, but unfortunately "a little while" turned out to be a bit longer than expected. My posts would have been more text and less photos anyway, and I think we all know I'm better at taking photos than actually writing interesting posts. So this mostly explains the MIA part. Now, about my year that was 2016.
I've had a pretty good year I'd say, with a couple of inevitable ups and downs. I travelled to the south of France to Bordeaux and Saint-Emilion in January, finished my first year of master's degree, did a research internship with one of my favorite professors, spent a long weekend in July in the Catalonian capital and travelled back to Lebanon for a month to visit my family and friends. After coming back home in September, I started my second year of my master's degree. And, well, I think you know what my last 3 months have been like... Books and coding. Oh joy.
At the moment, my life is quite a mess to be honest. Not a bad kind of messy, just... messy? I've always been that one person who plans everything. Like, everything. I had planned on going to college after high school, get my bachelor's degree, get my master's degree, and then... Well, "we'll see". I always felt like college was too far away and that I'll figure it out afterwords, and it's kind of crazy to think that I'm only two weeks away from having my last final of my master's degree. I don't know where I'll be or what I'll be doing after I get my degree, and it sort of scares the life out of me. I hate not knowing these sorts of things, but sometimes that's just how it is. So my resolutions for the new year are to stop trying to have control over things you cannot control, stop overthinking everything (seriously, though) and finally, focus on the good days and learn from the bad days. I think 2017 will be an exciting year for me. And I hope it will be for you as well. Happy belated new year, lovelies! Here's to another year full of happiness, love and success.
