When in Spain

Barcelona by Dear Laura Just a quick post to let you know that I was in Barcelona this past week to visit a close friend of mine and came back to Paris just yesterday! It was one of my favorite trips and one of the most beautiful cities I've seen so far. I mean, just look at that view. I can't wait to share more photos from the Catalonian capital this week!

I went for a little walk this morning with a couple of friends to enjoy the lovely weather and our day off, and I couldn't help but take around 30 pictures of this cute little street. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'd know that I have a slight obsession with little streets and alleys. You'd also know that I have never posted twice in the same week. This is a first!

In other news, fireworks will be launched tonight from the Eiffel Tower for Bastille day and normally, I would head to the Champ de Mars to watch the show but I think I'll just stay home in my pajamas and watch it from my tiny balcony. Yep. I am officially an old lady... Oh well. Bon 14 Juillet!

Update: Heartbroken to hear the news about Nice. So many innocent lives taken out of pure hatred... My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by these tragedies.

Musée Bourdelle

As I said in my last post, I'm rediscovering the 15th arrondissement. So next up is Musée Bourdelle! Antoine Bourdelle was a french sculptor and painter. He was highly acclaimed by the public and by the critics in 1910 for one of his masterpieces, Heracles Archer (4th photo), which is exhibited in the museum. He was also an art teacher at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, and some of his students include painter Henri Matisse and sculptor Alberto Giacometti.

With Bourdelle's 19th century studios and Christian de Portzamparc's modern extension from 1992, the musée Bourdelle offers a unique range of exhibition areas, along with welcoming gardens. From the intimacy of Bourdelle's apartment, where the artist worked, to the immensity of the Great Hall full of plaster casts bathed in soft bright light.

The museum is located in the heart of Montparnasse and is open from 10am to 6pm every Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays). The entrance is free for the permanent collection and the museum. For more information, please visit www.bourdelle.paris.fr/en

Near Light

Villa Santos-Dumont by Dear Laura
Villa Santos-Dumont by Dear Laura
I was hoping to finish the new blog design before writing a new post, but it's taking a bit longer than I had anticipated. Hopefully it will be finished by the end of the new week!

A couple of days ago, I decided to re-"discover" my neighborhood; there are so many cute alleys and coffee shops in the 15th arrondissement but every time I decide to go out for a stroll near my place, I end up walking towards the Eiffel Tower – which is great, don't get me wrong, but it gets repetitive and boring after a while. These photos were taken in Villa Santos Dumont, a pathway near Georges Brassens parc, where painters and sculptures used to live. I honestly wouldn't mind an apartment in this street. It's like living in a little village in one of the largest cities in Europe. How cool is that?
