Cinquième

Thank you all for your messages of support, here on the blog and on instagram. It's been a tough week since the attacks but I think we're back to some sort of normality because, "France is going to endure. And I'll tell you why: if you're in a war of culture and lifestyle with France, good fucking luck!" – if you don't know what I'm talking about, then you should probably watch this.

So today, I wanted to share these photos taken around the 5th arrondissement with a lovely group of people. We first went for a walk in the Luxembourg garden, and then wandered around the little Parisian streets and hidden courtyards of the quartier. It was so much fun having Cécile showing us around her neighborhood, meeting new people, losing some on the way, and spending the afternoon snapping pictures on what was probably the hottest November day (no but seriously, it was 20 degrees). Thanks again to everyone who showed up, and here's to many more wonderful days like this.

Tossed But Not Sunk

Paris by Dear Laura
Flictuat nec mergitur... Tossed but not sunk.

Following the deadly attacks in Beirut and in Paris, the blog will not be updated this week and all scheduled posts have been cancelled.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by these horrific tragedies.

Autumn in Paris

Like I said in my last post, I got my laptop back and I didn't lose any of my files (phew!) so I can finally share these photos taken around Ile Saint-Louis on the first week of November. How gorgeous are the trees? I never really liked autumn to be honest, mostly because with autumn comes cold and rain (and midterms week), but I just can't seem to get enough of autumn hues this year.

Weekend Reading

Musée Picasso by Dear Laura
So for the past 10 days, my laptop was dead. Well no, technically, it just wasn't functioning unless it was plugged in – which isn't very practical for a computer science student, if you ask me. I had to drop it off at the Apple store last week to get the battery replaced and I got it back yesterday afternoon. I have so many photos to share now that my laptop is well and alive again but first, here's what I've been reading lately.
  • Faye recently took a trip to Cinque Terre and since reading her post, I can't seem to stop thinking about planning a trip to Italy
  • beautiful art blog I started following recently.
  • Nirrimi's photos never cease to amaze me. She's one of my favorite photographers.
  • Dark chocolate and pears? Err, hi, yes, someone teach me how to bake please. This looks and sounds delicious.
  • Friends in the countryside. What a dream.
Happy Sunday, everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend.
